2023 here we come!

wedding fair stand

Already 2023 has started off quite well for me.

I was a little worried because of the financial situation, infact the wedding industry is still struggling to recover from all the covid shutdowns.

Many small businesses like me had to close and so many have never re-opened.

Its such a shame.

I have noticed all the very big 3 day wedding fairs we used to have, have never resumed, but to be honest they were really expensive to attend as a supplier and over the latter years smaller companies like me couldnot afford to display.

I used to really enjoy the big ones in Manchester, the Trafford Centre's Event City, and The Manchester Central one (this one will always be referred to as GMEX to us Mancunians!! haha)

There are smaller ones though mainly in local hotels and larger venues. It's a good place to display my veils and capes and just meet brides. When you work from your own place and sell mainly through your website you don't meet many brides unless they are local to you and as I sell all over the world this website is my main way of getting out there.

So here I am, I have received some lovely orders already so that is good and make sme feel like the wedding industry is starting to get going again.

As I write this is is the last day of January and as you would see if you read my last posts I am trying to deal with my greif over losing my precious girl, and corporate model.

I am now trying to look for ways of doing photo shoots to keep everything fresh, I was very spoilt with Emma as she was very "visual" and would do a photo shoot for me regularly. Although I am not only looking around for another "corporate" model but also a photographer as my close photographic friends have decided t close their business during lockdown and they have not resumed.

I do have another idea for a new cape - or Watteau cape as they are called, so if I can get a sample done, I will need to find a model and a photographer to show them for me, or I will just have to use my ipone and my dummy models who are dotted around the place frightening anyone who comes here and doesnt realise they are there!

If I can help anyone, just message or ring me I am here for you, details are on the contact page.

So we are here, January 2022. I thought 2020 was a disater for the wedding industry, but for me 2021 was the worst. I think couples were so weary of booking & cancelling that they either decided to get married without any ceremony or completely postpone until the pandemic is over. So far these first weeks of 2022 are looking good for me (AT LONG LAST) Ive had orders and even a consultation. However if these past 2 years are anything to go by I am not getting my hopes up. I LOVE making veils and I have been lost without them. Anyway less of the gloom and doom, here's to the new year, may we be like my bride above, Dorothea, getting married on a sundrenched beach, together with our families, happy, warm amd smiling. Happy New Year xxx
